Sonny Stitt's alto and tenor saxophone work defined hard bop in the 1950s and 60s, drawing inevitable comparisons to Charlie Parker. This 1961 Netherlands pressing on London Records (FLX 3042) pairs two Tin Pan Alley standards -- Gershwin's "But Not For Me" and Rodgers and Hart's "Blue Moon" -- in a 45 RPM single, capturing Stitt's fluent, bebop-rooted approach to the American songbook.
