Spoonie Gee's "The Big Beat" is a 1983 electro-rap 12" on Tuff City, distributed through CBS Associated Records -- one of the earlier major-distributed releases for the label. Produced by David Reeves, the record delivers a vocal mix and instrumental of the same track, built for DJ play. Spoonie Gee was among the first MCs to record for a major-distributed rap outlet.
