From the Maxi Jazz Collection. Stereo MC's Elevate My Mind on Fourth + Broadway -- the 1990 single that preceded Connected and showed where the duo was heading. Heavy hip-hop production, Rob B's flow at its sharpest.

UK 12" from the Notting Hill duo before Connected blew them up. Elevate My Mind rides a choppy, minimal groove with Rob Birch's delivery locked in tight. The dub mix strips it back nicely, and Smokin' With The Motherman on the flip keeps the energy up. Self-produced on 4th & Broadway, their Gee Street home. Ahead of where British hip-hop was at in 1990.
