Stetsasonic's 1988 Tommy Boy 12" is a five-version set built around one of hip-hop's most direct defences of sampling as musicianship. Produced by MC Delite and built on a Lonnie Liston Smith loop, the track addressed jazz purists who dismissed the form. Five mixes across two sides, including dub and instrumental cuts. Taken from the group's second LP, In Full Gear.
