Stone City Band were Rick James's touring group, and this 1983 Gordy debut -- a US promo copy -- marks their step out from James's shadow into their own album. Produced and arranged by James alongside the band at his Buffalo studio The Joint, it pulls hard on the same synth-funk and electro-disco groove as his Mary Jane Girls work. "Shake (Make Your Body Move)" and "Bad Lady" are the standouts.
