Tapper Zukie is a Jamaican deejay and producer who rose through the 1970s roots reggae scene, recording for labels including Stars, his own imprint. "I Shot The Cop" is a direct answer record to Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff," flipping the narrative with Zukie's raw toasting style. The B-side "Loverman Style" shows his range. Self-produced on his Stars label, catalogue MM80.
