The Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra ran from 1966 to 1978, recording Monday nights at the Village Vanguard and touring internationally. This 1991 German release on Jazz View captures a live European performance, numbered from a limited edition of 2000. Thad Jones's compositions dominate -- "Fingers" and "Greetings And Salutations" are both from the band's Blue Note-era book.
