Released during Prince's public dispute with Warner Bros., "I Hate U" appeared on The Gold Experience (1995) and doubled as a pointed statement on the label relationship. This US 12" maxi on the joint Warner Bros./NPG imprint carries four versions including an Extended Remix, a Quiet Night Mix by Eric Leeds, and the album cut -- giving a full picture of the single in its original form.
