Recorded in 1957 for Verve and released in the UK on His Master's Voice (CLP 1381) in 1960, this octet date captures Gillespie in a small-group setting with arrangements that lean into bebop and cool jazz. The eight-piece format gives tracks like Blues After Dark and Shabozz room to breathe across both horns and rhythm. A UK first pressing.
