The Heptones were one of Jamaica's defining vocal harmony groups, and by 1976 were recording roots material that reflected the era's cultural consciousness. "Blackmans Memory" is a Jamaican original 7" on the Hit Bound imprint, backed with the instrumental version on the flip -- standard roots format. The Heptones' harmony work across both sides is characteristically assured.
