Living Chicago Blues Volume 1 the first instalment of Alligator's landmark modern Chicago blues series.
Living Chicago Blues Vol. 1 was originally recorded for Alligator Records in 1978, featuring four acts -- Jimmy Johnson, Eddie Shaw, Left Hand Frank, and Carey Bell -- captured live in Chicago clubs. All tracks were recorded specifically for the label, not archival pulls. This 1991 CD reissue compiles the first two LPs from the six-volume series. Carey Bell's "Laundromat Blues" is a standout.
