Washington DC's Junkyard Band released this go-go twelve-inch on Def Jam in 1986, produced by Rick Rubin -- an unusual pairing that brought the band's percussion-heavy street sound to a major platform. This is the UK CBS pressing. "The Word" became a cornerstone of the go-go canon, while "Sardines" later appeared as a sample source in hip-hop productions including tracks by Biz Markie.
