Lucky Strikes was recorded in New York City on 15 September 1964 and originally released on Prestige (P-7365). This CD reissue appeared on Original Jazz Classics (OJCCD-194-2) under the Fantasy umbrella. Thompson's tenor and soprano saxophone lead a quartet through eight tracks including a reading of Duke Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood" and the standard "Invitation."
