Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at their Minneapolis Flyte Tyme studio, it sits in their mid-80s run that also included work with Janet Jackson. The Finest became the album's standout cut, reaching the R&B top five. UK pressing on Tabu/CBS.
