From the Maxi Jazz Collection. BPM stickers on sleeve. Ultramagnetic MC's 12" pioneering sample science from one of hip-hop's most inventive groups.

Released in 1987 on Next Plateau, this 12" predates the Ultramagnetic MC's debut LP Critical Beatdown by a year. Written by Kool Keith, Ced Gee, and TR Love, the record is dedicated to Scott La Rock, killed that August. "Funky" samples James Brown, while the flip "Mentally Mad" showcases the group's abstract rhyme style. The B-side instrumental has been sampled by later producers.
