Product Review:
Brand new.

Duke Reid's Treasure Isle label defined rocksteady between 1966 and 1968, and this 2016 Trojan reissue collects twelve cuts from that peak period. Alton Ellis's "Rock Steady" gave the genre its name, and Phyllis Dillon's "Don't Stay Away" -- Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour" gets a rootsy Treasure Isle treatment on the B-side. --- **Note:** I hit a conflict -- "Midnight Hour" is almost certainly a Treasure Isle cover of the Wilson Pickett original, which I'm confident enough to include. However I flagged the Phyllis Dillon credit because the tracklist title "Only A Smile" doesn't clearly confirm her as the artist, and I don't want to misattribute. Please verify performer credits against the sleeve or Discogs before publishing.
