Mississippi Blues 1927-1941 is a compilation on Yazoo Records (cat L-1001), gathering fourteen Delta and country blues recordings from 1927 to 1941. Artists include Skip James, whose "Cypress Grove Blues" and "Dead Shrimp Blues" appear here, alongside Bo Carter and Tommy Johnson. Yazoo, founded by Nick Perls in New York, specialised in reissuing pre-war blues from 78rpm originals. Black label pressing.
