From a beautifully preserved collection. Sticker on sleeve. Slight age discolouration to the rear sleeve. A majority of records in this collection are in EX to NM condition. We have graded them conservatively here.

Part four of Alan Lomax's field recordings from Mississippi State Penitentiary, Parchman, made in 1947 and first issued in 1957. This Pye Nixa EP (NJE 1065) is part of a series compiling Negro worksongs, produced by Denis Preston. Four tracks including Road Song, Jumpin' Judy, Levee Camp Holler, and Prettiest Train -- raw, unaccompanied group vocals recorded direct from the prison farm.
