Product Review:
Super copy!
Compiled by blues scholar Paul Oliver to accompany his book of the same name, this 1970 CBS LP pairs field recordings of West African music -- griots, war chants, praise songs -- with American blues tracks to draw direct connections between the two traditions. The African recordings date from 1963--65, several previously unissued. Blues cuts include Robert Johnson's "Stop Breakin' Down Blues" and "Forty Four Blues." Original UK mono pressing.
