Jug and washboard recordings compiled by Johnny Parth for the Austrian Da Music label, drawing on private collections including those of Joe Bussard and Ernest S. Virgo. Sessions span Chicago, Memphis, and New York, recorded between 1928 and 1929. Highlights include Tiger Rag and Washboard Rag, capturing the percussive, homemade-instrument style that predates and informs early blues and hokum traditions.
