Yazoo compilation tracing the direct influences on Robert Johnson, drawing on recordings by Skip James, Kokomo Arnold, Son House, and others made between 1927 and 1937. Produced by Nick Perls on his Yazoo imprint, the label dedicated to pre-war blues reissues. Tracks include Son House's "Preachin' The Blues" and Skip James's "Devil Got My Woman," both central to understanding Johnson's style and repertoire.
