Alex Moore was a Dallas piano blues player active from the 1920s through the 1960s, one of the few practitioners of a rolling, idiosyncratic Texas barrelhouse style. This Arhoolie compilation draws from three sessions: 1947 radio recordings at KLIF Dallas, a 1960 Dallas studio date, and a 1969 session in Stuttgart. Tracks like "Boogie In The Barrel" and "Chock House Boogie" show his percussive, rhythmically loose approach across 77 minutes.
