Wynton Marsalis's self-titled debut, released 1982 on CBS, introduced the then-20-year-old trumpeter alongside his brother Branford Marsalis and producer Herbie Hancock. Recorded across New York and Tokyo, it moves through hard bop and modal jazz with a notably mature command. Tony Williams and Ron Carter appear in the rhythm section. This European pressing was mastered using the CBS DisComputer system.
