Johnny Guitar Watson's 1981 A&M album, produced by Michael Zager with Herb Alpert as executive producer, sits in the boogie-funk lane Watson had been working since the late 1970s. Recorded at Kendun Recorders, it features Watson handling all songwriting duties alongside Zager and Jolyon Skinner. The title track and "The Planet Funk" are the standouts on a set that keeps the groove locked throughout.
