Carmel's self-titled debut mini-album, released 1982 on Red Flame, captures the Manchester trio -- vocalist Carmel McCourt, bassist Jim Paris, and drummer Gerry Darby -- across two live settings: the Hammersmith Palais and Cargo Studios, Rochdale. Opens with a cover of Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of My Tears." Produced by Paul Ablette, the six-track set draws on gospel, soul, and jazz with a raw, stripped-back feel.
