Electric Byrd was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder Studio on 15 May 1970 and released on Blue Note. Produced by Duke Pearson, the session finds Byrd leading a large ensemble through electric, funk-inflected modal jazz -- four extended cuts including "Estavanico" and "Xibaba". This 2026 Music On CD reissue brings the album back in a straightforward CD edition.
