Irma Thomas released "Wish Someone Would Care" in 1964 on Imperial Records, reaching number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. The B-side "Break-A-Way" was later covered by Tracy Chapman in 1988. Produced by Eddie Ray, this original US pressing captures Thomas at the height of her early Imperial run, before her move to Chess Records.
