Jimmy McGriff's organ-led big band tribute to Count Basie, originally released on Solid State (SS 18001) in 1966 and reissued here on Blue Note in 2006. Produced by Sonny Lester and recorded at A&R Studios in New York, it works through Basie staples including Lil' Darlin', Splanky, and Everyday. McGriff anchors the arrangements on Hammond organ where Basie would have sat at the piano.
