Tupelo Blues collects early John Lee Hooker recordings originally released on Riverside in the late 1950s, capturing him in raw solo form -- just voice and electric guitar. This 1969 UK Riverside pressing features "Good Mornin' Lil' School Girl" and "Pea Vine Special" alongside the Delta-rooted title track. Hooker's unaccompanied style here influenced a generation of British blues musicians in the 1960s.
