Johnny Nash's cover of Sam Cooke's "Cupid," released on Major Minor in 1969, catches Nash deep in his reggae-influenced phase -- years before "I Can See Clearly Now." Recorded in Jamaica with backing from local musicians, it carries a relaxed rocksteady feel that set Nash apart from his US contemporaries. UK pressing on Major Minor (MM 603).
