Recorded in a single session on 7 March 1958 at Van Gelder Studios, this Prestige date pairs guitarist Kenny Burrell with John Coltrane at the peak of his hard bop period. Produced by Bob Weinstock, the album features the 14-minute "Big Paul" alongside the blues-driven "Freight Trane." This 1986 Japanese CD reissue (VDJ-1533) was remastered from the original analogue source using JVC's DAS-900 digital system.
