Ullanda McCullough's "Want Ads" was released in 1979 on Ocean Ariola America, a short-lived US imprint. This US promo 12" features both a short and long version of the track, produced by Leon Pendarvis alongside Bernard Drayton and George McMahon. Pendarvis, a noted session musician and later musical director for Saturday Night Live, brings a polished late-disco funk edge to the production.
